Karma Is Life: How Today's Actions Shape Tomorrow's Destiny
Have you ever wondered why some people are always happy while others always struggle? The answer is hidden in one word - KARMA.
In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says - "Karmanye Vadhikaraste, Ma phaleshu Kadachana". It means you have the right to do your karma, but not to the fruit of your actions.
The Law of Karma: How Our Actions Create Our Destiny
Human life is bound by karma. We are always engaged in some action or the other. It is because of karma that the cycle of birth and death continues. The law is simple - good actions bring good fruits and bad actions bring bad fruits.
Because of this web of karma, a person experiences joy and sorrow.
Happiness does not come from outside. Happiness is the prasad, the blessed result of our own good deeds. And sorrow is not given by any enemy. Sorrow is also the result of our own bad deeds.
Without Karma, The World Cannot Run
Think for a moment, what would happen if humans stopped doing karma?
If the farmer stops ploughing the field, how will the food grow? If the labourer stops building houses, where will we live? If a scientist stops experimenting, how will new inventions be made?
No invention in this world has happened in a single day. After failing thousands of times, it is through continuous karma that they became successful. The modern world we see today, with mobile phones, the internet, and aeroplanes, is the fruit of thousands of years of human karma.
If a person does not do karma, the world will not function. All humans get good and bad results according to their karma. Therefore, doing karma is not a compulsion, it is the law of nature.
Two Paths: One Towards God, The Other Towards The Material World
Everyone does karma, but the direction of your karma decides the condition of your life. He who did his karma in the right direction, reached God through his karma. He who did his karma in the wrong direction, his life went far away from God.
In our life, many times we have to make decisions - whether to go towards good karma or bad karma. Our decisions are the reason for our life.
Let us understand this with an example.
A young boy has energy, strength, and time. Now he has two options. The first option is to use his energy and strength to earn money for his family, to study, to make his body strong. The second option is to take money from the same family and waste his energy in enjoyment, roaming around, and intoxication.
Both boys are doing karma. One is doing the karma of hard work, the other is doing the karma of enjoyment. But we will have to bear the fruit of both.
The boy who makes good decisions, tomorrow his life will be a successful life. He will have respect in society and honour in the family. But the boy who makes bad decisions will put a stain of failure on his life which he will not be able to erase till old age. In old age, when he will have neither money, nor health, nor respect, then he will regret his past karmas.
Today's Karma is Tomorrow's Destiny
That is why it is said - Today's karma creates tomorrow's destiny.
Destiny is not a pre-written book. Destiny is written daily, with the pen of our karmas. A human cannot escape karma, after coming into this life he will have to do karma. But the decision is his, whether he takes it to the path of God or to
What is Karma?
Karma is not just action. Karma is life itself. Every thought, every word, and every deed is your karma. What you do today becomes your destiny tomorrow.
1. Your Today is Your Yesterday's Karma: Whatever you are today is the result of your past karma.
2. Your Tomorrow will be Your Today's Karma: If you want a better future, do good karma today.
Good Karma and Bad Karma
Good Karma: Helping others, speaking the truth, being kind, hard work. Its fruit is always sweet. It brings peace, success and happiness.
Bad Karma: Lying, hurting others, laziness, jealousy. Its fruit is always bitter. It brings sorrow and failure.
Why is Karma Called Life?
Because without karma, life stops. A river flows, that is its karma. The sun shines, that is its karma. Similarly, a human must keep doing good deeds. That is the true meaning of life.
So, don't worry about the future. Just make your present karma so good that your future automatically becomes beautiful.
