Why does the mind not stay in the present? The cure for the restlessness of the past and future

Article: How is the world born from the mind?

Our sages have said - the world is born from the mind. It is the mind itself that has trapped the living being in the clutches of death. If there were no mind, the fear of death would also end.

Otherwise, God is one and the same in all. One single consciousness is working in everyone.

But the mind experiences the world from different perspectives. It sees happiness in one thing and sorrow in another. This is what creates duality.

The biggest problem with the mind is that it never stays in the present. It always keeps you in the illusion of getting more. If I get this now, then I will get that - life ends in this very race.

The Disease of Past and Future

The whole game of the mind is of the past and the future. All its thoughts are either of the past or of the future.

Thoughts of the past create regret - I wish this had happened, I wish that had not happened. And thoughts of the future create hope and fear - whether this will happen or not.

Because of this, there is always pleasure and pain in the mind. The mind cannot stay in the present, because it does not even exist there. In the present, there is only God.

It lives in thoughts and thoughts do not stay even for a second. Every second a new thought comes. That is why the mind is restless.

There, God Himself appears, after long practice. When thoughts become quiet, what remains is God Himself.

How are we the Witness?

Understand one very deep thing - the thoughts of the mind are not your own thoughts. Why? Because we ourselves are a witness.

Just as you see a bird flying in the sky, you are not the bird, you are the seer. In the same way, you watch your own thoughts, you are not the thoughts.

Our true nature is the nature of God, and in it there is neither mind nor world, so thoughts were never born in the first place. In that true nature of God, the very form of the mind dissolves.

There, there is only Truth, whose experience itself is liberation and supreme bliss. This happiness is not temporary like the happiness of the mind; it is eternal.

Who gets this happiness?

This is the most special thing. This happiness is not only for the rich or the educated. It can be attained even by a poor and helpless person.

It has nothing to do with wealth or intellect. It cannot be attained through a degree, but only through liberation of the mind.

Therefore, try to do this: every day, for 10 minutes, close your eyes and watch your thoughts, do not fight them. Just keep watching. Slowly, the mind will begin to become quiet.

--- Liberation from the mind will continue
